Reflection on Learning
As
I stated before, although I am very structured in the way I approach most
things in my life, I will not take that approach to teaching History. Since I
have yet to actually teach History in a high school classroom, I do not know
what I could add to my knowledge of myself. Like I said in my previous blog, I
have a planned approach to teaching History, but do not have any results as of
yet to determine if the plan will work or how I should adjust it. I believe
that I must approach the classroom with the thought in mind that not all students
will understand the lessons being taught and that I must be ready to adjust my
methods when issues arise.
Although I am confident
that I will create an environment where my students will feel comfortable
collaborating amongst themselves and communicating with me, I need to do more research
into working with students that do not respond well to authority figures or
other adults. Since I believe in having a very disciplined classroom, I may find
myself butting heads with some student. In order to keep the line of
communication open with all my students and not disrupt their flow of learning,
I must research methods to handle troubled students.
